Top Antivirus testing lab, AV-Comparatives, just released their Retrospective/Proactive Test results - which tests some of the top Antivirus programs’ ability to detect new threats with generic and/or heuristic techniques - before updates are available. This is an important test since it shows how these programs perform against new threats, without the help of updates/definitions.

G-Data continues to be one of the best Antivirus programs along with Microsoft’s new security program. While McAfee, Avira, AVG, and Symantec all performed disappointingly in this testing. This is the 2nd consecutive test by AV-Comparatives that Symantec hasn’t reached top marks…
