Trend Micro Antivirus 2009 - a disappointment

Our Review of Trend AntiVirus was quite the disappointment this year. Some of the disappointing results of our testing were:
1. Our Antivirus Performance Testing showed that Trend was the worst performing Antivirus that we tested this year. Trend Micro’s will definitely have a noticeable impact on your computer’s system resources.
2. Trend’s virus scanner was also fairly slow - scan time for our test computer took nearly 65 minutes. While it has just over 2 virus definition updates per day - both are near the bottom of our antivirus tests. Trend 2009 did install in just 144 seconds, but even this was not a very good result.
Besides Trend’s poor performance it also didn’t do very well in virus/malware detection tests. Trend Micro Antivirus 2009 failed Virus Bulletin’s VB100 testing, and was not included in AV-Comparatives tests due to previous poor results. (View Trend Micro Antivirus Screenshots)
Overall, Trend 2009 was very disappointing - we suggest reading our other Antivirus Software Reviews such as Eset NOD32 Antivirus, Kaspersky Antivirus, or our Norton Antivirus review for better alternative solutions.
