Congratulations, You’ve Been Scammed! How to Deal With Internet Scams
October 5, 2008 by Antivirus Ware.comWhether you’re looking for a recipe, planning to purchase an item from e-Bay or just surfing the net, there are scams of all sorts designed to do just that: scam you. You say, oh that will never happen to me, I’m Internet savvy; I know how to recognize any scam. But before you decide that you are exempt from being scammed, you should know that scams come in all shapes, forms, and fashions and are becoming more cleverly created by stealing actual logos from real companies all in the name of conning you out of your identity, money or both.
The majority of scams on the Internet are designed to encourage you to divulge personal information such as your bank account numbers. Such scams suggest your account has been compromised and that you need to go to the website and re-enter your information. Understand that these scams are created to look exactly like the authentic original. One way to recognize such scams is to simply point your mouse to the link provided. Chances are you will see a strange web site URL at the bottom left corner of your browser. For example, if you bank online at First Bank of America and the URL you point to says http://www.garciasorganictango.com/updateuser.php you can be certain that someone is attempting to scam you.
Always trust your intuition when it comes to the Internet. If you are unsure about a communication you’ve received online, search for a scam buster website and check it out… and always have proper internet protection software on your computer!
