Computer Hiccup? Get a Checkup!
October 4, 2008 by Antivirus Ware.comIt’s happening again and you don’t understand; your computer should be performing with ease and yet it’s freezing. The hourglass keeps turning until you finally attempt to close the browser only to discover that your program has quit responding. Even if you have an antivirus program on your computer these things still happen! This type of computer “hiccup” can be the result of many things but is most often caused by a dysfunctional program file or dynamic link library file (.dll). You don’t have to be a computer geek to recognize when it’s time for your computer to get a checkup.
There are often occasions when it’s necessary to make changes to your computer. The primary area these changes are resident in is called the registry. Do not, and I cannot emphasize this enough, attempt to make changes to your registry if you are not familiar with what needs to be done and you have not made a backup disk. A checkup for your computer, however, does not require you to change registry settings and thus will not be addressed here.
Installing and uninstalling programs is the more common way a computer sticks when the leaves unused shared files, causing the computer to continuously look for the program and finally freeze. To remedy this, give your computer a complete check up by running the defragmentation program found in the systems area. You will be asked if you want to remove unused program portions. If you are unsure, disable them and use your computer to ensure it is running regularly without them, then remove them.
