An Overview of Spyware

Some people consider spyware even worse than viruses because it can actually deter the Internet browser to a site that has viruses. Spyware is malicious software on the computer that actually monitors the behavior of the user, and acts as a pirate, taking over some of the basic functions of the computer. Also, spyware can actually divert your computer to certain websites, which can put money in the pockets of certain advertisers. Spyware also significantly slows computers down, interferes with Internet connections and settings, and can even change preferences like your home page.
Anti spyware software is now available and is quite common for most PC users because of their susceptibility to spyware infections. The fact is that most PC users actually have spyware on their computers, and even more did not even know that the spyware was there, nor had they given permission for the software to be installed. This is why there have been laws passed outlawing this type of spyware activity. Because owners do not intend or permit that installation of the software that corrupts their computers.
