With security risks on the internet and networks becoming greater, so is the need for professionals and qualified people to keep the internet and these networks secure.  The need for people who have earned degrees in internet and network security is growing at a fairly healthy rate.  Here are the 4 hottest careers the properly educated person can pursue and earn a good living in the process.

 

  • Computer Security Specialists deal with one thing and one thing only — the company’s computer security.  They are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing computer security for their company or organization.  Additionally, they install security systems, monitor the company networks for breaches, and they train others in computer security issues.
     
  • Computer Systems Analysts’ job responsibilities involve the application of computer technology to solve computer problems in order to meet the individual needs of a business.
     
  • Database Administrators work closely with database management systems and software applications to determine and develop better systems for storing data safely.  Basically, the database administrator manages and keeps a company’s data safe and secure.
     
  • Network Administrators (and Computer System Administrators) oversee the security of the entire network.  They are responsible for designing, installing, and supporting a company’s LAN (Local Area Network).  They also handle the same functions with the WAN (Wide Area Network, internet, and intranet systems. 

According to the US Department of Labor, these fields will be wide open opportunities for quite a while.  Starting salaries in these four areas range between $58,000 and $67,000 annually.
